Acquired Rights...
If you hold, or are eligible for a Certificate of Competence in General
Practice from another EEA country, you do not legally require further
training in general practice in the UK. If you are from another EEA
country, you will asked to certify that you do not hold such a certificate
when you apply for a training post.
However, in some EEA counties such certificates were granted with
minimal experience of general practice and doctors coming from an EEA
state may require orientation into UK general practice. Directors of GP
Education may now fund such doctors for a period of training as a GP
Registrar. You will normally be asked to make an appointment with the
Director and you may also have to apply in open competition for a post. It
is advisable to contact your preferred deanery office for further
information and advice.
