back

Is GP training being extended?

Whilst it is generally felt to be a good idea to extend the standard GP training programme to 5 years, there are no definite plans for this to happen in the near future. Deaneries will continue to offer standard 3 year GP training programmes in 2011 and 2012. A few deaneries also offer some 4 year programmes where usually, but not always, the extra year is spent in a general practice or community setting. Please refer to individual deanery web sites for more information.
