FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does my immigration status affect my application?

Some applicants may be considered before others on the basis of immigration status in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. If you are not a UK or EEA national but your immigration status entitles you to work without restriction in the UK, you will be considered on an equal basis with UK and EEA nationals.

Other non-UK or non-EEA nationals with limited leave to remain in the UK, whose employment will require a Work Permit, are subject to the resident labour market test. The labour market test means that you would only be considered for a training programme if there are no suitable UK or EEA national candidates. This is unlikely to be the case for GP specialty training programmes.
