Are doctors who qualified overseas eligible to apply for GP training?

Yes as long as you are able to work legally in the UK as a doctor in training. You must be registered with the UK GMC at time of application OR have passed both parts of PLAB and be eligible for UK GMC registration at the time of application. The GMC website link can be found on our Contacts page.

You must also be able to demonstrate that you have achieved the equivalent of UK Foundation Programme competency. See our Entry Requirements page in the Recruitment section.

Overseas doctors should be aware that work permits will be only be issued if there are no suitable applicants who do not require a work permit.
